Little is known here about circumstances in Israel, Palestine or Syria. American News are always heavy on the poor Israelis and the brutal, reckless Palestinian muslims (you know what I mean.) Few people are able or willing to read foreign papers or listen to broadcasts on the radio (who has the time?)

Because Americans do not see and do not understand, they fall victim to politicians who play with their fears. Divide and conquer. I do not see many people in politics that do good work (maybe John Kerry, he does amazing work from what I see but he does not get "in the news" much, IYKWIM).

There is some hope. I am more proud than I can possibly express that both of my girls, who live in Austria, were and are actively helping Syrian refugees when they come to Austria, with whatever is needed, from toothbrush to diapers, from translators to medical attention, from helping them buy train tickets to go where they want to settle to families that open their home and take refugees in for a day, or a week, or like in a southern part of Austria, a whole village that opened up and invited refugees to stay.

For the people that do not want to flee or cannot afford it, I see not much hope in the near future. Fear reigns everything. Attack is the best defense. Do unto them before they can do unto you.

Again, thank you for speaking up and getting the word out.Brigtte aka BNLnoreply@blogger.com
